Buga Mama is owned and run by students from Ak’ Tenamit, a school built nearby that engages 500 students of the Mayan culture in educational activities such as agriculture and hospitality. The students are trained at Cafe Tatin, a cafe on the Ak’ Tenamit grounds, then transferred to Buga Mama to complete their training.
All proceeds from food and gifts purchased at Buga Mama are used to support the 500 students at Ak’ Tenamit to work toward a better life through education.
